
Fred Welsh began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown of Edge Hill, Abington Township, PA, in October of 1974. Chief Welsh served as a career firefighter/EMT in Fairfax County, VA; as a career fire chief in the petroleum industry; and as the volunteer fire chief in College Park, MD. Chief Welsh also served as the division chief for all volunteer fire and rescue services in Montgomery County, MD and has a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science from the University of Maryland. Chief Welsh has graduated from the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer program and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist. Fred and his wife Paula have a son, a daughter and two labrador retrievers.

Jennifer Howard began her career with Sylvania Township in October of 1996 and became the fire department's Administrative Assistant in February 2001. Jennifer came to Sylvania Township with a background in customer service and accounting from Mid Am Bank, where she was employed for 11 years. In addition to her role with the fire department, Ms. Howard has served as the recording secretary for both the township Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. Originally from Rossford, Ohio, Jennifer moved to Sylvania in 1986, where she lived for 21 years before moving back to Rossford with her two children Katie and Kyle.
