SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP Policy

Policy for the Disposal of Township Property via Internet Auction

O.R.C. Section 505.10 (D)

The Sylvania Township Board of Trustees has recognized internet auction services as an appropriate means of disposing excess Township property and has contracted with GovDeals, Inc. to provide such service. The following guidelines will be used when disposing of items which are not needed for public use, obsolete, or unfit for the use for which it was acquired.

  1. Items to be disposed of shall be inventoried, listed by department, and include the pertinent information (i.e. year, make, mileage or use) and presented to the Board of Trustees at a regularly scheduled meeting.
    1. Those items that are listed as fixed assets shall be removed from the inventory lists upon payment in full from sale.
  2. The Board of Trustees shall recognize by formal vote the list of items to be disposed of, an established minimum price, and other terms and conditions that are deemed appropriate.
  3. The Township shall establish and maintain one individual who will be the point of contact for items to be sold. This person shall be responsible for insuring that all items have been settled for and the appropriate paperwork is complete, releasing the Township of any ownership and liability.
  4. No items shall be turned over to the successful bidder until such time as guaranteed payment has been received in full.
  5. Revenue collected from the sale of these items shall be deposited in the General Fund of the Township. The Trustees by formal action may transfer and appropriate the revenue to the specific fund where the items sold were derived.
