Highlights from the October 17 Board of Trustees Meeting
Sylvania Township Police Officer Rachal Hamilton is sworn in by Chief Paul Long before the Township Trustees at their Oct. 17 meeting.
Planning and Zoning Manager Daryl Graus was authorized to file additional legal action against one township resident for a zoning violation at the Oct. 17 Board of Sylvania Trustees meeting.
The trustees approved the seven-year lease-purchase agreement through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing agreement with Sutphen Corporation for one SPH 100 Aerial Platform Fire Truck, including tools and equipment, at a maximum cost of $2,115,822. Delivery of the apparatus is anticipated to take between 36 to 42 months from the date of purchase agreement.
The trustees approved Administrator Oliver Turner’s request to engage Dawn Sanderson, Esq., of Sanderson Law Offices LLC as additional legal counsel to represent the Board for negotiating and creating Joint Economic Development Districts and related matters.
Turner’s request to appoint legal counsel John Borell as the township’s representative to the Special Energy Improvement District for a two-year term was also approved.
The trustees authorized entering into a contract with the BAZ Group to conduct a telecommunications optimization review. The Sylvania Township firm conducted an audit during 2019-2020 and saved the township over $6,000.
A public hearing at the Nov. 8 Board of Trustees meeting will be held to address the street lighting petition for Twelve Lakes Plat 12.
In other business, liquor permits were granted to Shorty’s Back Forty, 5212 Monroe St., and Millions Crab, 7340 Central Ave.
