TARTA update
TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski and Sylvania Township representative to the TARTA Board of Trustees, Joel Beren, presented an update to the Sylvania Township Board of Trustees about TARTA's innovations and progress and the benefits TARTA offers by connecting the community.
EV Charging Station zoning approved
In regular business, the trustees approved the request of Planning and Zoning Manager Daryl Graus to amend a zoning resolution to include regulations regarding electric vehicle charging stations.
Sylvania Township Fire Chief Chris Nye was given permission to apply for the 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), an Operations and Safety Micro-Grant to replace out-of-date stair lifts with new powered stair lifts.
In other actions, Township Administrator Oliver Turner was given the authority to contract with Public Consulting Services Group, LLC, of Boston Mass., for services needed to implement the Ohio Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program for Emergency Medical Services. This program may provide funding to cover the gap in reimbursements for transportation of Medicaid patients.
Sylvania Township Police Chief Sarah Toth was authorized to hire two police officers at the Dec. 3 meeting.
Conditional use approved
The request for the conditional use for a special residence within a C-2 district from the owner of the property at 8527 W. Central Ave. was approved by members of the Board of Zoning Appeals at their Dec. 2 meeting.
Santa’s Mailbox
Children of all ages are invited to write a letter to Santa, enclose it in an envelope and drop it off at Santa’s new mailbox. This special mailbox is located at the front entrance of Township Hall, 4927 N. Holland Sylvania Rd. No stamps are needed for the letters to reach jolly ole St. Nicholas but they must be placed in the mailbox by Dec. 16 in time for express delivery to the North Pole. Be sure to include your name and address to receive a special reply from Santa.
Holiday decorations
Elves have been busy getting the township offices ready for the third annual holiday decorating contest. Voting is open until Dec. 16 at 11:30 pm. You can vote every day.
